Dissolved air flotation (DAF) is a method of water treatment that removes suspended materials like solids or oil from wastewaters and other waters, clarifying them. Air is dissolved under pressure in the water or wastewater and then released at atmospheric pressure in a flotation tank basin to accomplish the removal. Tiny bubbles created by the released air stick to the suspended material, causing it to float to the water's surface where a skimming device can remove it.
