A lamella clarifier, also known as an inclined plate settler (IPS), is a type of settler that is used to remove particles from liquids. They are frequently used in initial water treatment instead of traditional settling tanks. They are employed in the treatment of industrial water. In contrast to traditional clarifiers, they employ a sequence of slanted plates. With a tiny footprint, these inclined plates provide a large effective settling area. When the input stream enters the clarifier, it is stopped. Solid particles begin to gather on the plates and in the collection hoppers at the bottom of the clarifier unit. The sludge is taken from the bottom of the hoppers, and the clarified liquid exits the unit through a weir at the top.
