Working principle of Primary Clarifer/Secondary Clarifier:

Influences enter the feed well for energy dissipation, which is located in the middle of the clarifier. The baffle plates' action causes the flow velocity to slow down and the liquid to begin flowing downward.
Clarifier working principle and process of Primary Clarifer/Secondary Clarifier:
The three zones of a clarifier are the input zone, the settling zone, and the outlet zone. The settling zone is where floatable solids build up on the water's top as scum and solids that are heavier than the liquid settle to the bottom of the clarifier to create sludge. The sludge will be gently rotated to be pushed radially inward to a sludge pit, where it will be pulled out of the clarifier for additional treatment, typically dehydration by a screw press dehydrator.
The scum will be forced radially outward by a scum skimmer to the clarifier's exterior edge and into a scum trough. To prevent scum from entering the pure water exit, a scum baffle needs to be fitted. After roughly eliminating 90% to 95% of the settleable solids and 40% to 60% of the suspended solids, the effluent is now quite clean. Thin film water passes through the V-notched weir and into the effluent launder for further treatment.
Model of Primary Clarifer/Secondary Clarifier:
  1. Gravity sedimentation tanks are typical clarifiers. They come in either circular or rectangular shapes.
  2. Suction Clarifier: Suction type clarifier use a vacuum system to gather the sludge from the tank's bottom. They are employed in the secondary and concluding stages of clarification.

Applications of Primary Clarifer/Secondary Clarifier:
Clarifiers are frequently installed at sewage treatment facilities, water treatment facilities, pulp and water plants, mining facilities, and other locations where there is a significant amount of water that needs to be treated before being released into the environment, or be recirculated and reused again.
