Excessive quantities of iron in water exceeding 0.3 mg/l can cause a variety of difficulties as well as negative health effects if consumed. Iron will be dissolved in water in the forms of Fe2+, Fe3+, and a few additional compounds. Iron, when present in excess, lends color to water, resulting in aesthetic impacts. It has an effect on the color of white fabric when used in laundry.
