Heavy metals (HM) are any metallic chemical elements that are harmful at low concentrations but cause psychiatric disorders when eaten in excess. They are extremely hazardous to both animals and humans, can bioaccumulate through biological chains, and are non-biodegradable and persistent. Their toxicity can develop as a result of industrial emissions that pollute waterways, neighboring streams and rivers, contamination of irrigation water, fertilizer and metal-based pesticide application, harvesting process, transportation, storage, or sale. This pollution is a widespread environmental issue. The damaging effects of heavy metals in water on living organisms if an excessive amount is consumed through food. Cadmium and chromium are carcinogenic elements, whereas iron, copper, manganese, zinc, and nickel are necessary trace elements).
Painting paper, pigment, fuels, photographic materials, electroplating, battery production, explosive manufacturing, and metal working industries discharge huge amounts of heavy metals into water bodies, causing serious environmental damage.
Arsenic is another heavy element found in over 70% of bore well water. As a result, purifying the water to make it potable is critical. Chemical precipitation, reverse osmosis, and solvent extraction are all expensive procedures for removing heavy metals from waste water, especially in underdeveloped nations. Adsorption on adsorbents such as active carbon or modified active carbon is an alternate technique because it is inexpensive and easy to implement.
Activated carbon is the name given to a group of highly carbonaceous compounds, none of which can be defined by a structural formula. It is an amorphous solid composed of micro crystallites with a graphite lattice; it is non-polar and highly porous, and it is often manufactured in small pellets or powder form. The drawback is that it only reacts with oxygen at high temperatures (more than 300 °C). It is made from carbonaceous material; the two stages of making activated carbon are carbonization and activation. Waste water is any water that has been contaminated by anthropogenic activity and can come from a variety of sources, including home, industrial, commercial, or agricultural activities, surface runoff or storm water, and sewer input or infiltration.
We provide not only active carbon for liquid processing to treat waste water to sewage water, but we also modify the carbon to make it a high oxidant to remove heavy metals such as Pb, Hg, As, Cr, and Cd by impregnating it with active MnO2. HMR Carbon block was created and made using MnO2 impregnated carbon. HMR block removal effectiveness is currently 70-80%.
