Ultra Filtration technique employs a membrane wall to remove particles as small as 0.01 microns, including bacteria, viruses, and colloids, pollutants that exceed increasingly stringent water quality regulations around the world, resulting in clean water.
Ultrafiltration (UF) is a pressure-driven purification process that allows water and low molecular weight material to pass through membranes while rejecting particles, colloids, and macromolecules, but it does not remove ions or small molecules. Flow through semi-permeable membranes is done by creating a pressure difference between the membrane's outer and inner surfaces.
UF membranes with hole diameters ranging from 0.01 to 0.05 µm effectively remove bacteria, viruses, colloids, and impurities, resulting in highly pure water.
UF membranes have a service life of three to seven years or more, as opposed to reverse osmosis membranes. They are commercially available in hollow fiber, tubular, plate and frame, and spiral wound designs.
