One type of crosslinking functional polymer material that can create multi-coordination complexes with metal ions is chelating resin. The coordination process between the functional atoms on the resin and the metal ions is the mechanism by which chelating resin absorbs metal ions; this reaction forms a stable structure akin to small molecule chelates.
Chelation resins are more selective with metal ions and have a larger binding power than ion exchange resins. It is extensively utilized in hydrometallurgy, amino acid separation, public hazard control, and different metal ion recovery and separation processes.

Characteristics of Chealting Resins

  1. Chelating resins flaxen opaque beads and are milky white in color.
  2. The primary purpose of it is to separate and separate metal ions.
  3. Iminodiacetic acid, weak acid phosphate azide, and thiourea group are examples of functional groups.
