FeSO4•7H2O is the molecular formula for ferrous sulfate. Ferrous sulfate is produced by copolymerizing iron particles, and the resultant substance has a pale green or light yellow crystal look. A specific quantity added can change the alkaline water's pH, interact biologically with the suspended particulates and speed up precipitation. It is mostly used to treat industrial effluent and purify water, and it also has antibacterial properties.

Applications of Ferrous Sulphate  
It is employed as a feed additive, a fertilizer, a replacement for aluminum sulfate in water purification, a mordant in the dyeing of wool, and the production of ink. Ferric oxide that is magnetic is produced using it.

Features of Ferrous Sulphate  
1. Ferrous sulfate is a water treatment agent that is very adaptable to a wide range of water quality conditions. It is particularly effective at purifying and treating raw water that has high turbidity, low temperature, algae, and mild pollution.
2. After purification, the water quality is superior to that of inorganic coagulants like aluminum sulfate, and the expense of water purification is 30%–45% less. Flocs form quickly and sediment at a rapid rate.
3. high water quality, strong water purification, and absence of chlorine and other dangerous materials.
4. The treated water has less salt, which helps with ion exchange treatment, strong coagulation, dense alum, and quick sedimentation.
5. Effective in eliminating heavy metal ions, COD, BOD, turbidity, decolorization, oil removal, dehydration, bacteria removal, deodorization, and algae removal from water.
