The first PCMF design was the Mecana Drum Filter (MTF). Mecana's exceptional performance in a variety of industrial and municipal applications is one of its differentiators. MTF is made up of a drum with two or three filter cloths covering it, depending on the filter surface (2–6 m²). A filter cleaning pump and a suction beam with a contoured suction lip make up each Mecana Drum Filter's separate cleaning system.
The operation of a drum filter
The Mecana Drum Filter is installed atop a filter tank that has a level indicator, an emergency overflow valve, and inlet and output weirs for hydraulic decoupling. From the outside to the inside of the totally submerged filter structure, the water passes through the pile layer while holding onto the solids. Filtrate passes through the outlet weir and over the rising chamber. The zero-water level is defined by the outflow weir and is used as a reference for system control. The revolving drum cleans the filter media without stopping the filtration process. Cleaning is either level-controlled or time-controlled when operating in automatic mode. The whole surface of the filter is cleaned in a single cleaning session. Cleaning is either level-controlled or time-controlled while in automatic mode. Periodically, suspended solids are extracted from the filter's bottom.
