The weak acid cation exchange resin is an ion exchange resin that contains a carboxylic acid functional group. A slightly acidic cation exchange resin that acts as a weak acid in water. As a result, its capacity to breakdown neutral salts is limited (it is difficult to react with salts containing strong acid anions such as SO42- or Cl-). It can only react with weakly acidic salts (alkalinity salts), allowing it to manage high alkalinity water with weak acid H-type exchange resin. The weakly acidic cation exchange resin is easy to regenerate and has a high exchange capacity.
