An Overview of the Filter Press
Filter cloths, filter plates, hydraulic cylinders, filtrate receivers, and cake discharging equipment are all part of the filter press dehydrator. Hydraulic cylinders compress the filter plates, and the sludge pushed in by the sludge pump is separated into solids and filtrate, with the filtrate discharged to the outside. To re-dehydrate, compressed air (pressurized water) is injected between the diaphragm and the filter plate. The dehydrated cake is discharged separately after a given amount of time, and the filter cloth is rinsed.

How does a filter press work?
A mechanism of hydraulic cylinders that tightly seal the plate frame dewaters the filter press. The sludge that has overflowed is discharged separately as desorbed filtrate and dehydrated cake. At this point, the desorbed filtrate is discharged cleanly, and the dehydrated cake is discharged in a hard, low-moisture form. One cycle is finished once the filter press has run for a given amount of time. Depending on the type of sludge utilized, one cycle can run anywhere from 30 minutes to 4 hours.
If the filter cloth is made of acid and alkali-resistant material, such as PP, PE, or PPS, the dehydrated cake thickness is around 30 mm, which is environmentally friendly. Depending on the application, the moisture percentage of the final dehydrated cake ranges from 65 to 75%.
