As an export-oriented unit, we have always strived to meet worldwide standards. IGCL is sponsored by a group of extremely successful industrialists with international activities in a variety of industries. Our parent business, Galfar Engineering and Contracting LLC., headquartered in Oman, is one of the major construction enterprises in the Middle East, specializing in the erection and commissioning of oil and gas pipelines, infrastructure development, and other civil constructions and high-rise buildings.
Galfar was founded in 1972 in the Sultanate of Oman with only 33 employees and has since grown to become the country's largest employer. Galfar, headquartered in Muscat, Oman, employs 15,000 people throughout its diverse operations in the Middle East and India. Dr. P. Mohamed Ali, our Chairman, received the prestigious Outstanding Non-Resident Indian Award from the Government of India in 2004 in recognition of his outstanding service to the nation. Mr. Atal Behari Vajpayee, the then-Prime Minister of India, awarded him with the award in the presence of our President, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
We are happy that IGCL has established Indian representation on the global map of high-quality activated carbon manufacturers. The company has today emerged as one of the world's top carbon producers, as well as India's largest carbon maker and exporter, with a total production capacity of 6000MTS and a yearly turnover of US$.7 million.
