The VA40 is a variable area (VA) flowmeter with a glass tube for measuring liquid and gas flow. The universal flowmeter is suited for all basic applications up to +100°C / +212°F and a maximum pressure of 10 bar / 145 psi. Typical applications include measuring the flow of flushing, purging, or inert gases, as well as heating and cooling circuits.
The VA40 does not require an external power supply. The measuring cone, which is protected by a metal sleeve with a viewing glass, allows for direct reading of the flow and observation of the medium. The VA meter can also have two optional limit switches (MIN/MAX) or analogue output (4...20 mA). The flowmeter includes numerous process connections and can be utilized in hazardous environments.

Simple, low-cost measuring principle that does not require extra power.
For direct flow reading and medium observation.
MIN/MAX flow switches (SIL 2 according to IEC 61508-2) or 4...20mA for recording and control are optional.
For liquids, the full scale value is 0.4...10,000 l/h / 0.1...2,650 GPH.
For gases, the full scale value is 7...310,000 l/h / 0.25...11,000 SCFH.
The maximum measuring error is 1% (according to VDI/VDE 3513-2) or 1% of the whole scale.
The turndown ratio is 10:1.
Use in high-risk regions.
Suitable for use in SIL 2 Safety Instrumented Systems, redundant designs (1oo2), and SIL 3 applications (type A device).
Food and pharmaceutical versions are available (with FDA-compliant components).
