Meter Verification: What Is It?
By comparing your flow meter's performance with another instrument with a known performance that has been temporarily inserted into the system, meter verification gives you peace of mind about the meter's operation.
Why check?
There are numerous real-world explanations why a meter cannot be calibrated. It's possible that the piping configuration prevents the temporary connection of a reference device, like a prover or master meter, or that the procedure cannot be stopped in order to remove the meter. Sometimes the flow rate or meter size may be too much for the stationary or mobile calibration facilities that are available.
Verification is a significantly better option than doing nothing if calibration is not possible.
