 Al2O3, the material used to make FCM flat sheet ceramic membranes, has outstanding chemical, oxidation, solvent, and heat stability. Through the use of MBR (Membrane Bio Reactor) technology, FCM products have demonstrated their reliability as a membrane for waste water treatment systems. FCM exhibits a distinct performance in severe environments and operates on a similar premise to hollow fiber or polymeric plate MBR membrane. 
It functions similarly to flat sheet membranes made of polymeric materials. Because the outer surface of the support is coated with the separating layer of the FCM flat sheet ceramic membrane, the membrane operates in the Outside-In mode. Aeration is typically utilized to lessen fouling on the exterior in order to preserve the filtration capacity and maintain flux stability.  FCM membrane is more suited in situations with challenging circumstances.
