As part of the project, Ansys Workbench was used to perform a thorough structural analysis of a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) module. An essential part for processing, storing, and offloading hydrocarbons under complicated loading conditions at sea, such as wind, wave-induced motions, and operational loads from pipes and equipment, is the FPSO module. For the client to guarantee adherence to industry standards, reduce risks, and improve the safety and dependability of offshore operations, a thorough assessment of the module's structural integrity was necessary.  

The intricacy of modeling the module's behavior under environmental loads, including vibrations caused by waves, and dealing with possible fatigue and resonance effects were among the difficulties of this analysis. Careful meshing and load application techniques were necessary to achieve convergence in the analysis, especially in high-stress areas. 
Our group made use of Ansys Workbench's sophisticated modeling and simulation capabilities. In order to replicate operational constraints found in the real world, contact interactions and boundary conditions were carefully defined. The module's behavior under wind and wave loads was assessed through transient simulations and harmonic response for dynamic analyses. The results were thoroughly validated against industry standards and provided the client with critical insights for design improvements, ensuring the module's robustness and long-term operational safety.
