The purpose of SV series relief valves is to keep the operating pressure steady and avoid unintended pressure spikes. The valve opens to lower the line pressure to the appropriate level when the inlet pressure rises above the calibration marks. When the piston's working pressure falls to the calibration pressure, the valve closes.
