Utilizing cutting-edge treatment technology, the MBR system generates premium reuse water at a reasonable price. It is perfect for clients who want to save space because it can be used on small and medium-sized plants. An activated sludge process and membrane ultra/microfiltration are combined in a membrane bioreactor (MBR). (In the traditional activated sludge process, the sand filter and secondary sedimentation tank used for tertiary treatment are replaced by the MBR method.) Features of the Hitachi Aqua-Tech Membrane Sewage Treatment Plant include high-quality, reusable treated water, ease of operation, and space savings. Additionally, anoxic/aerobic treatment can be used to remove nitrogen and phosphorus in a more advanced manner. based on site conditions and client requirements.
Diagrams of processes
Before entering the MBR facilities, raw sewage from the equalization or holding tank is first passed through fine screens to remove any materials that can clog or scratch the membrane. When required, a tertiary treatment (filtration) is added to further polish the secondary treated water in order to meet stricter reuse requirements that are beyond the capabilities of a traditional sewage treatment facility. The anoxic and aerobic tanks make up the membrane bioreactor facility. Membrane modules are submerged in the aerobic tank, where activated sludge will biologically break down the sewage's organic materials (BOD).
Because the MBR System's MLSS (mixed liquid suspended solid) concentration is 10–20 g/L as opposed to 3–4 g/L in traditional activated sludge systems, only 30% of the traditional system's retention time is needed. Through the filtration process, the membranes also extract liquid from suspended solids. Because of the membrane's 0.1 micron hole size, microorganisms, including coliform bacteria, are eliminated along with suspended particles. Additionally, unlike traditional activated sludge systems, the immersed membrane filtration method does not require a gravity sedimentation tank or clarifier. The nitrate content is eliminated by recirculating MLSS from the aerobic tank to the anoxic tank. For the elimination of phosphorus, additional flocculant and coagulant dosages might be used.
