PAC, commonly referred to as poly aluminium chloride, is a novel type of very effective inorganic polymer flocculant. Drinking water purification, industrial wastewater treatment (such as oily wastewater, printing and paper mill wastewater, etc.), and special water treatment (such as radioactive material, lead (Pb++), Cr++, highly toxic heavy metals, and fluorine (F), etc.) are the primary applications for PAC.  It's commonly utilized in leather, food, and precise casting, among other things.
One type of inorganic macromolecule flocculant is called PAC. Large molecular and high electrical conductivity inorganic macromolecules are produced by use of the hydroxyl ion bridging function and the polyvalent anion polymeric function. It is pH adaptable, ranging from 5.0 to 9.0, with 6.5 to 7.6 being the ideal range.
All forms of poly aluminium chloride are widely employed in a variety of sectors as a flocculant and industrial coagulant. There are various PAC grades available for various uses. PAC products are used in water treatment to remove organic matter and other contaminants like suspended solids (turbidity) and micro-organisms from surface water. The surface electrostatic charges stabilize the particles, silt, and clay, preventing them from coalescing. It works better in low- to moderate-turbidity water, maybe because it can neutralize charges more effectively than alum.
