A common and extensively used system for water pre-filtering is the activated carbon filter system. It uses FRP tanks (also available in carbon steel or stainless steel tanks) as the vessel and activated carbon as the filter material. It can aid in the system's absorption of organics, suspended contaminants, and leftover chlorine. It can also offer favorable circumstances for the purification process of reverse osmosis. Moreover, the carbon filter can successfully prolong the life of post-stage equipment, enhance the quality of effluent water, and stop pollution—particularly free residual chlorine poisoning in reverse osmosis membranes and ion exchange resins.
Constructions
Filter Tank.
During multimedia filter systems, our FRP tanks—which include universal FRP tanks and FRP tanks with upper loading and lower discharge ports—are well-liked. Tanks made of stainless steel are available.
Media. Activated carbon, which is used in this system, can eliminate chlorine and odors from water.
Distributors of water. Different types of upper and bottom distributors can accommodate nearly all tank sizes and flows.
Multiple port control valves. With the help of this gadget, you can move your pipeline less and make the system more intelligent and stable. Options for both manual and automatic valves are provided.

Working Principle
Granular activated carbons are used in carbon filter systems to further eliminate organics, suspended contaminants, and leftover chlorine, resulting in high-quality water for the subsequent reverse osmosis purification process.
Apply a filter.
Granular activated carbon effectively absorbs impurities in water through physical means because of its high carbon content, large molecular weight, and large specific surface area.  The majority of organics and other suspended particles are absorbed into the pore by the Van Der Waals force (VDW) when water passes through the activated carbon pore. Simultaneously, absorbed chlorine (hypochlorous acid) is reduced into chloride ions by a reaction on the surface of activated carbon, effectively eliminating the chlorine.  The water quality requirements for RO (reverse osmosis) purification are satisfied when the total residual chlorine is less than 0.1 parts per million after treatment.
Backwash. The pressure differential before and after the filter increases as the filter operates, causing the intercepts in the pores and on the surface to gradually increase until the filter fails. Under normal conditions, the reverse water can backwash the activated carbons, removing the majority of the impurities and restoring the filtration and absorption capabilities. To satisfy engineering specifications, activated carbon should be replaced or regenerated once it reaches its saturated absorption capacity and totally fails.

Applications of Activated Carbon  Filter System
Sewage Treatment Plant.
In industrial wastewater, an activated carbon filter system can eliminate organic compounds, hazardous chemicals, odors, and other contaminants.
Air purification. While they won't cause outgassing, activated carbon filters can aid in the removal of smoke, odors, and other volatile pollutants from air and gas.
Chemistry that is analytical. Remove turbidity from chemicals and organic molecules to purify them.
Metal plating. Purify chemicals and organic molecules by eliminating turbidity.
Remediation of groundwater. Purify chemicals and organic molecules by eliminating turbidity.
industry of chemicals and pharmaceuticals. For the transportation of precious metals and other catalyst applications, activated carbon filters are an appropriate medium.
Treatment of Drinking Water. When it comes to eliminating problematic substances from municipal water, such as chlorine, heavy metals, byproducts, and other volatile microorganisms, activated carbon filters outperform sand filters.
Purification of Distilled Drinks. Activated carbon filters can be used to improve the texture and fermentation of juices and fruit-based beverages by filtering organic components such as flavors, colors, and odors.

The advantages of an activated carbon filter system

  1. The activation process creates activated carbon, which is distinct from regular charcoal.
  2. It creates pores with a high absorption capacity.
  3. Utilizing activated carbon's remarkably large surface area, this system improves the water's quality by removing its color, taste, and odor.
  4. In addition, it has the ability to remove chlorine from water.
  5. An inexpensive and highly effective filter media that lowers project costs and improves water quality is the activated carbon filter, a fundamental and widely used system for water treatment.
