When comparing HRLE series RO membranes to conventional brackish water membrane elements, the surface characteristics are altered by raising the sheet's density. The operating pressure is lowered by 33% and the rejection rate of the membrane elements is stable. By using this approach, the whole reverse osmosis system can produce the same permeate quality while using 1/3 less energy, improving the system's operational economy. To further lower the system's construction costs, fewer membrane elements are employed in the system.
Observations:

  1. The individual element's permeate flow may differ by up to 15% from the specified value.
  2. Guaranteed active membrane area within ±4%.
  3. Stabilized salt rejection can usually be attained within 24-48 hours of continuous use, contingent on the properties of the feedwater and the operating environment.
