In the electrodeionization-based reverse osmosis EDI module systems:
Reverse osmosis is followed by electrodeionization (EDI) to properly polish demineralized water.
to finally achieve low conductivity and silica levels. Therefore, we prefer to employ two pass reverse osmosis water filtration systems in the majority of applications. Ion exchange resins, ion exchange membranes, and electricity are therefore used in the EDI. As a result, they generate pure water without any regeneration downtime. A substitute for a traditional mixed bed polisher is EDI.
What is the reverse osmosis system with double pass?
A Double Pass Reverse Osmosis (DPRO) System is used in reverse osmosis with electrodeionization systems where the permeate water is fed into a second RO unit to create more clean water as needed. Therefore, a two-stage or double-stage RO occurs when water is recovered from the concentrate or reject stream by means of a second RO system. In summary, a reverse osmosis system removes about 99% of the total dissolved particles from supply water in order to purify it.
Simultaneously, Single Pass RO Systems generate both concentrate and product water, or permeate and reject water, respectively. Thus, multiple pass ro units are found in the majority of reverse osmosis + EDI systems.
How is the double pass ro system operated? The way the double pass operates RO:
In Double Pass Reverse Osmosis Systems, there are two RO systems (First Pass and Second Pass), with the First Pass having a higher volumetric flow rate capacity than the Second Pass. There might be a break tank located in between them. where the concentrate water or permeate from the first pass RO is kept and fed into the second pass RO. Additional filtration or direct connection to the second RO intake from the first RO permeate output is made as needed.

Pre-treatment may be required initially in the reverse osmosis with electrodeionization electrode integration system. if water recovery is the intended use, to accommodate both the first pass and second pass RO systems.  Since the concentrate water quality on the first pass should be almost at saturation. However, an application may just need a first pass pre-treatment. If it begins to feed the second pass as permeate.

Why use an EDI module with a reverse osmosis?
According to our observations, if the water entering the edi module is less than 20 ppm. Therefore, the longevity and effectiveness of the electrodeionization module are significantly improved. We prefer, like some other well-known water treatment firms, Dow Filmtec membranes, IonPure, or GE EDI modules, for double pass reverse osmosis with electrodeionization EDI modules.
